Hmm. Random thought, what kind of neatness are you allowed / not allowed to do on the server where AC sits Gareth?
As most times it crashes, it refuses telnet sessions, wouldn't it be easy enough to write up a script for crontab to restart it?
like;
if ! `telnet 127.0.0.1 4000`;
/bin/kill '/usr/bin/pgrep ac_process' && /usr/local/foo/bar/restart_ac;
/usr/bin/mail -s"AC Blowed up at `date`" gareth(at)foo.bar;
exit 1;
else
exit 0;
fi
Although I guess having said all that, you may prefer to catch it whilst crashed for froensicsy type stuff...
Just a thought. _________________ I don't wanna die, but I 'ain't too keen on living either. |

Such a script does indeed exist (except it checks the output of ps ux rather than telnetting), but sometimes it's commented out while the mud is on gdb. |

Right, I suppose it was silly of me to assume that there wasn't.
