Every now and then in this thread I'll reprint an old note from the board archives that I think might be still potentially be relevant today.
This week's is from over two years ago and is from Wedge:

To Adventurers~
Subject Important!~

I and a group of fellow adventurers were hired to seek out information
concerning DiEamen. We were told that they were constructing a portal
to the new continent of Djakiar. We found this belief to be true. The
entrance to the portal lies somewhere east of town near Prehistoria.
When we arrived inside the un-completed portal, we were greeted by two
warriors, who posessed no capabilities of logical thought process, however
they were good fighters. After a brief questioning of them, we were
greeted by a man named Tshmakal. I believe him to be a citizen of
Dkjakiar. He was dark skinned and had a slight accent. He was wearing
very strang garb of an off-white color. His head was covered, as if he
had been in harsh sunlight. He was obviously strong, because he carried
the larges scimitar I have seen. As I later learned, Dragons and Half-
Dragons are enslaved on the continent of Djakiar and he believed me to
be a lost pet. When I told him I was no pet, he attempted to 'claim' me
himself by forcing a piece of Drygonite on my person. I have been badly
burned and am seeking the help of the Hippie Church. I have been informed
they are seeking a cure. Elstin, I believe you are still their leader,
please get in touch with me as soon as possible. I was saved from the
Drygonite by Norik. He in turn gave the Drygonite to a man named Bolkins.
I do not know what he intends to do with it and I did not have a chance
to speak with Norik. Norik I would like to speak with you as well.
That is all I have to tell.

There was a series of notes I posted sometime in the middle of last year I believe. There were 4 of them total (I think) and basically summed up all of Unther's quests. Those would be nice to have handy as well, I think.

Ofcourse, you can always go to the notes section and read the entire thread of notes in the archive...

Might be practical to link messages with important notes to the archives... this is done as follows : go to the archive, and in the index right click on the link to the note you need, copy the url and paste it in here with the url tags....

So the link to the message G quoted would be :
(url)http://www.abandonedcodex.net/highlights/feb2001.html#90(/url)
With the () replaced by [][/url]
resulting in :
http://www.abandonedcodex.net/highlights/feb2001.html#90

well, y'see, I was more planning on just posting one a week (or thereabouts) to make the past campaign more digestible to those who weren't a part of it, rather than just saying hey everyone go look at the archives...

This week's quote is from Aneirin, from 2001.

To All
Subject Vampires
Why would anyone true to themselves be a friend to a vamp?
Mages believe in the purity of their magic. How can they be friends to beings who corrupt it with blood?
Clerics bow to the sacraments of their gods. Why would they care for the unholy undead beings?
Warriors' bravery and skill honor death as a part of life. Why would they care for the corrupted undead?
Thieves live of the prosperity of others, but they have an honor code of their own. How could they be friends with a being that kills without scruples?
Rangers and Druids pay homage to nature. Should not their natural enemy be the parasite sucking the beauty away?
Monks believe in pure doctrine, purity of mind and spirit. Why should they bow to the murky demons?
Illusionists and Augurers pride their intelligence and truth. Why would one who knows truth seek for friendship in those with rotting minds and demonic will?
They are corrupt and have corrupted us. It is time we seek the true path, the path of life, purity, knowledge, faith, wisdom, honor, and courage. Put their demonic spell aside! It is time to rise up and fight back for what we cherish and hold dear! For our life and for the lives of those we love!

This week's board archive post is from Graicen Soulbane, and is dated September 15, 2000.
Quote:

Subject: My personal Jihad
I feel a great wash of sorrow over me as I write this letter. I must personally declare war on Alucard himself, though I know that this surely means my death several times over. He has insulted my lord, Uecef, and it is thus, my duty to make him appologize for this action. There is no other recourse. May the gods protect my soul, for I know that I am right.

-The Sorrowful,

Lord Graicen Soulbane
Crusader of Uecef's Honour

I wonder what became of that? (that's your cue to dig through the archives and ask the older players yourselves Wink )

The city was again attacked by Elementals. During our fight
with these elementals, a man showed up, claiming to be from
the mists north of the great continent. This man claims to guard
knowledge about the Great Dragons. He reports that one of the
great dragons, Epyranth, is awakening soon. Epyranth is supposed
to be very similar to Falisvir, but much much older. This man
had a fellow traveler who dissapeared in the night while they
were traveling through the northern plains. It is believed
that this man was attacked by Drow. He sought refuge in Srobus'
hut. Upon arrival, the man was dying, not even the combined
efforts of Retribution and Payne could bring him back. Saul
attempted to give him another form of life, but it was also
fruitless. The man entrusted Saul with The Light of Hope,
making Saul the new Guardian of Hope. When he did this, he
said that "The Darkest Hour will Arrive, and From Thence
Will Rise the Greatest and Noblest of Dragons, and unto him must be
Presented the Light of Hope, that he may Rule Wisely" I believe
this to be good news, but we must be careful, and assist Saul
in whatever way we can. I am now seeking the man so that
I may question him further.

Citizens and Adventurers,
Today has been very eventful. If you will recall, a black dragon named Izrick has been collecting ancient relics, making himself stronger. During this, several adventurers have been trying to beat him to the relics to prevent him from getting them. Arequatra informed us of the location of one of these relics and we went to retrieve it. When we arrived, we found that Izrick had already claimed it. He then stormed Ryshikahnan, and took the relic we were protecting there. That left only one relic, a pair, one was the Sword of Falisvir, which I carry; the other was the Wight Blade, that Exless carries. Arequatra who was wounded in her battle against Izrick, told us the only chance we had of defeating Izrick was with the last relic. My squire Dyth and Maxim went to find Exless, while the rest of us went to Izrick's lair. Here we confronted Izrick, and Dyth arrived with Exless. Exless charged Izrick, but was swallowed whole. At this point, I initiated an attack, hoping the Sword of Falisvir wouldn't fail me. I was mortally wounded, but miraculously brought back to life. As the fight continued, something happened. The Sword of Falisvir cut through Izrick's arm, and he backed down. Izrick then claimed that through the fight he was able to draw on the power the sword held. He began to grow in size and power, when the Wight Blide errupted from his belly. At that point I lunged forward with my sword, and Izrick's reign was ended. The relics scattered by some energy and are believed to have returned to their original locations. As I have said before, Exless becomes more powerful with each kill. His slaying of Izrick increased his power greatly. I feared for all of our lives, but he looked at Retribution and seemed frightened; then he left. We are now re-collecting the relics so that they may be kept safely, or used to combat future evil.
