I've been playing about with a demo version of CC2 for some LARP-related stuff, and was thinking maybe of doing some maps of the countries of Arathnos.
Before I put too much work in, has anyone else played with Cartography software? Can anyone recommend any other packages (especially freeware/shareware) for fantasy land cartography? |

I don't know what software they use, but the maps on imperian's website are pretty cool looking. If you want me to check it out, i will |

By all means.
I'm always happy when players try to create Arathnos-type things outside the normal sphere of the mud. |

Chaz and I tried making Xantheus using the builder for NeverWinter Nights. It worked alright, but nothing spectacular... it was a little cramped, and things like the temple and clan halls were hard to figure out where they went. Basically the maximum size was too small : ( _________________ -Wedge |

I think realistically the only decent way to map Arathnos is with a pen and paper.
A very big bit of paper. |

Actually, digging around my hard drive, I found a pencil-drawn map that someone sent me of the mainland not that long ago, but I forgot who it was.
If anyone wants to own up, then tell me so we can get it finalised. |
